Jody, I frankly don't see an internal candidate with the kind of experience necessary. Ann Livermore really comes from the services side. Really hasn't had a chance to cut her teeth in a major division yet. Two years down the road, I might have given her higher chances, but not today. Duane Zitzner in Personal Systems has enough problems in his own group. Ditto the hardcopy guys. Bottom line to me is there's not really anybody out there who fits. IMO, they need to pull an IBM-type move. Bring in somebody from the outside, who has experience running (and changing) a diverse and complex organization, preferably NOT from the computer industry. Just my own gut feeling, but the Baby Bells might be the place to look for that kind of talent. With the consolidation in those companies, there are quite a few successful, wanna-be CEOs who have the kind of experience HP needs. mg
