I'm inclined to think that this is the case, that people are willing to spend $800 more for the Intel name. It'd be rather stupid for Toshiba to artificially make Intel-based products look like a rip-off.

But here it doesn't make much sense. Intel-based systems normally include better peripherals, better components, etc., while AMD-based systems normally include cheaper components in order to reduce cost. You know, the market segmentation thingy. But in this case, the components associated with the "premium" brand name are the same or lower than the components associated with the "bargain-basement" brand name. The Intel laptop has a smaller screen, and still it costs $800 more. What's going on here?
