AP Clarifies Intel-Retail-Sales

NEW YORK (AP) - In a Feb. 26 story about retail sales competition in the computer semiconductor industry, The Associated Press quoted the research firm PC Data as reporting that consumers bought more computers in January with semiconductors made by Advanced Micro Devices than those made by Intel Corp. (Nasdaq:INTC - news)

The PC Data report was based on sales in retail stores only, not including sales made directly by computer manufacturers to consumers by phone or over the Internet.
