Scotland's regained Parliament will be set up on May 1st,1999, when Scotland will be holding its first General Election since 1707. It will create a tremendous opportunity for our country to fulfil its potential within Europe and the world at large. Edinburgh is the fifth financial centre in Europe, 15th within the world and is presently the 23rd richest country in the world. It exports more per head of population than England and its present GDP is £50 billion a year. Further, the Scottish Banking system (quite separate from the Bank of England) is fully geared to helping new businesses to set up in Scotland. Further, as a member of the European Union, all foreign investors will have the opportunity to reach 325 million prospective buyers belonging to the EU.
