Vlad,

An interesting note. Richard Casey, former CEO of Scios and a current board member of Vivus, was ousted by a stockholder revolt three months ago. His replacement from Genentech just laid off about 40% of Scios personnel.

Scios is located in Mountain View, CA. I used to know an employee who was employed at Scios and was laid off in 1992 by a similar cut back due to profitability.

Richard Casey came to Scios in the mid 80s left three months ago and never missed a pay check (i.e. 400,000 - 500,000/year including bonuses during his tenure). It's nice to be able to dump on everyone else and keep your job. Is there a similar company in a similar situation you can think of (i.e. Vivus).

The good thing to know is that a stockholder revolt can be found to dump the CEO.
