MAR 2, 1999, M2 Communications - IBM has launched a new consumer
desktop PC model that is powered by AMD's 450MHz AMD-K6-2 processor
with 3DNow! technology. The Aptiva model 520 also features 64Mb memory,
a 10Gb hard drive, IBM's rapid access keyboard and comes pre-loaded
with Microsoft's Windows 98 operating system, Lotus SmartSuite
software, and ViaVoice 98 Home Edition software, which enables
customers to create documents and e-mail using spoken language
commands. The PC is expected to be available soon in the US and will be
priced at US$1,299.
