Thomas: The article clearly points out to the limitation in using an existing single high capacity pipe whilst increasing the number of users.

Good lord, you don't need a "technical" article to point that out; basic plumbing knowledge would suffice. But this isn't a cablemodem problem, it's a generic networking problem. All those xDSL lines get aggregated into big pipes, too. Only difference might be the location of the bottleneck.
