SDNA....First of all I "have" to be optimistic as I hold the stock at much higher prices.

Although I do believe that cpq will fall short of their estimates I think that the .30 price estimate for the Q is a manipulative #. The leaked information at the s/h's meeting was orchestrated to soften the blow of missing the estimates (how do ya like that for a conspiracy?). The new estimates are coming in around .29/.30 & the stock price is down reflecting the disappointing earnings...so along with dell, mu, 3com & intc all the bad news is already built into the tech sector & stock price of cpq, ahhhhh right?
Now, how did the anal-ysts arrive at the revised .29/.30 eps#? It would have to be based on information received from cpq & they wouldn't be so stupid as to supply an overly optimistic revised eps.....would they????....(somebody help me here):o). So I think the final # will be $0.36....beats the hell out of the revised .29/.30 & keeps the sh's relatively happy, well ok, some of the sh's.

As far as the $39 price, I believe the sell-off in the computer stocks has been overdone (with the exception of dell) & therefore think the bottom for cpq will hold above $28....should know within a week!!! I think that the 2nd & 3rd Q's will see more of a contribution from the dec acquisition. The 4th should be strong going into the Xmas season & the newyear & should contribute substantially to cpq's bottom line....result $62.00(or was it 65?) 12/31/99.

And maybe, just maybe the hwp management may have pointed EP in the right direction w/r to AV?....would be nice if they spun the company off to sh benefit.

Finally & most importantly Jimbo is now a proud(?) owner of cpq...how bullish can that be?????<ggg>

Of course this is just all MHO (actually some of it is fiction).....Rick

Face it - CPQ is the pimple on everyone's butt. They are a major reason the industry and all its players are being dragged down. And they haven't even preannounced yet! I would guess they will easily test 52 week lows within a week or two - after a gooey preannouncement or two come in. Forbes RUMORS that CNBC naturally picked up - that Intel will preannounce poor earnings... good luck all!
