Now for the bad news: Ed Zander is already being mentioned in the press (along with several others) as a possible CEO for the new sub-HP computer company. Naturally he would be their first choice, and they'd probably pay him a s**tload of money to do it. However, he's still just getting started running Sun, and the prospects there look a couple of orders of magnitude brighter than at HP, which is really just a toner company. Also, the HP board has shown so utterly little talent finding CEO's since John Young left that we have to assume they'll fumble it again.

Also, Sun has deep management. Still, it makes me nervous.
