Stephen, I agree that it is difficult to trust managment that burns you once. therein lies the trouble with 3com. The only public statement made by managment there was last week (or thereabouts) indicating that it saw no reason for concern for the quarter. then managment obviously leaked this information yesterday prior to making another public announcement. It has become a bit frustrating to see a company that can actually throw good numbers on the board and show a decent rate of growth have such poor understanding of their revenue stream (or a blatant disregard for its investors..i don't know which is worse). Re ASND, the whisper number was hit inthe 9/98 quarter (est. + .01) but was not in the 4th quarter, which was attributed to lower margin sales from the now divested stratus..I would be very surprised to the deal renogiated given the fervor surrounding the addition of the Ascend people and groups. time will tell.
