Listened to nightline last night. Warren Burrett was being interviewed. The things that stood out from the interview: Do you understand the product, is it a well known name? Do you like the people involved?. Buffett wouldn't invest in a company, even if he could make money on it, without liking the people and its business plan. Buffett will research a company sometimes for years before deciding to buy. MANY YEARS can go by before the price starts to go up. Buffett's reliance is on the fundamentals of the company. Earnings, product name, royalities, worldwide distribution. For Buffett, his patience has paid off. Emerson can be fustrating to wait on, but in IMHO well worth the time. At least our capital gains taxes will be low! One could make a killing in XYZ company, "IF ONLY"... or they could lose money also. Stocks are a gamble no matter how hard the research. As for Emerson they went through their Chapter 11 about 6 years ago. The events that are happening this year is because management is moving forward. According to Ken Corby, Emersons internet site should be ready sometime in April. The internal problems are being worked on as we speak, (Maintaining their profitability, stock repurchase program, and to resolve the creditor situation). I find it amazing that Jurick brought back Emerson from almost sure extinction. That took a lot of guts! This GREAT NAME and product will have its day. Just don't know the date. :) flyintigress
