For those people that aren't aware, included with C++Builder 4 are free versions of JBuilder BCB/CS gets JBuilder Pro, BCB/Pro gets JBuilder Standard. This offer is good until March 31.

It has been confirmed by a Borland representative that JBuilder for Solaris (and perhaps HPUX and LINUX) is in the pipe. Hopefully, next quarter.

If that announcement is made, it might just be enough to get this slug moving again. If Del would just stop holding his giant salt shaker over us!

I don't consider it 'knee jerk' to question the intelligence of throwing a wrench into the sales works just when things may be turning around.

We can only guess at how the commissions are structured but what if they were overly generous based on an expectation that initially they would be getting the "small" enterprise contracts? What if the commissions for large contracts are so generous that the net to the company just won't track the increase in sales? How would Wall Street react to that? Again, we are all just guessing here because we have no idea about the exact nature of the sales commissions.

Del has pulled some questionable moves in the past. Exactly how much money was spent in an attempt to give the company a new image by changing the name ???

I agree that this was not a good idea. And now, with the complete confusion about the company being called Inprise with an Inprise division and a borland.com division I think that Del has taken a big step backwards. I still don't understand what his vision of borland.com is.

I don't want to hear talk about Del wanting to bring salaries 'in line' with the rest of the industry. If that's the case he should start with himself.

Give this a rest already. He had a one time signing bonus and a large gift of another amount. That happened in the past and is done with. His salary is more like $250K (I didn't go look up the exact figure so don't jump on me but it is nowhere near the $4M/year that keeps getting mentioned).

If you want to insist that his annual salary is $4M then another way of looking at it would be that after the first year's compensation of $8M (or something like that) he took a 97% pay cut to $250K per year. A 97% pay cut is pretty impressive. <g>

My personal belief is that INPR is probably in perpetual negotiations for a buyout and the expense of sales staff is probably out of whack with a possible suitor(s). I would have no problem re-balancing commissions

So does that mean you think it was reasonable to change the commission schedule or not? I still maintain that we do not have the information to make an intelligent decision on this issue.
