"Qualcomm officials laugh off the suggestion that the company is for sale."

I don't think they are actively seeking a buyer, but.......

Surely we have to integrate this with Dr Jacobs remarks and those of the Q government affairs spokesman.

I think I was the first to spot that something was up when I referred to the Times article a couple of weeks ago. The thing that aroused my atttention was the uncharacterstic outbreak of reasonableness apparently coming from all sides.

This all has the flavor of a 'getting together commercially' rather than a merger. Good for both and fo a bunch of EU governments that want to start selling spectrum.
