Stefan, >>>" PC sales are slowing down 3COM is warning for the rest stay tuned."<<<

Two PC companies have now said they think the PC market "froze" waiting for the Pentium III. In my experience, this does always happen when a major new chip comes out. Also, 1Q is typically the slowest quarter for PCs. So, we had a double whammy. We'll have to wait and see on the PIII effect. It's out now (got on a few at Circuit City and Fry's this weekend), so we shouldn't have to wait long.

Tony

Stefan, in your post to me you said I needed to look at the "big picture" and not just AMAT. I asked you what you thought the "big picture" was and you wrote this:<<PC sales are slowing down 3COM is warning for the rest stay tuned. >>

So, in your world, 3COM is the "big picture?" CSCO kicks their butts every hour of every day so for 3COM to not make earnings certainly should be no surprise. Seems to me your "picture" is somewhat limited in part and has a problem with clarity as you say we need to "stay tuned" for the rest of it. When your tuner picks up the transmission of the rest of your "big picture" get back to me. Who knows, it might actually be something of value. Jeff
