Here's an unusually realistic post from the Yahoo NRID thread:

messages.yahoo.com@m2.yahoo.com

His point, further described in a somewhat earlier post, is that corporate buyers of security products are not necessarily looking for the best software as much as they are looking for a guarantee of adequate technical support -- which, of course, NRID is not in position to give compared to bigger competitors like IDX. That is why having partners like Oracle and Compaq is important to IDX in the marketplace. If you can't provide support in out years, you will be largely confined to the very small sales channels that NRID is in fact using.

The large channels are just beginning to open up, and IDX is in the best position to sell bio-ID in significant quantities. I've given up trying to predict specific revenue and earnings targets for the time being, since any one prediction can be overwhelmed with just a couple of major sales -- and they could start in April or November, or next year, and all of a sudden. But every sign is they will happen. IDX is not going to have to wait five years for those sales.
