Amy J: RE: "Sec rule requires brokerages to cease business and transfer customer accounts if they haven't adequately addressed year 2000 computer problems by Oct 15."

I have the feeling that this is meant to be reassuring.

Will SEC inform clients which brokerages have not adequately addressed the problems so clients can transfer their accounts to a brokerage of choice rather than being part of the institutional switch?

The remedies sound almost as bad as the disease!
