Thanks, Jack.

Most of us have thoroughly researched the companies we invest in. That doesn't mean we win right away.

With ASND for example, this gave me the confidence to buy big when it was $22-$23, when all the world was saying what a crap company they were, how CSCO would eat them alive, how Morrie and his management team sucked, threatening lawsuits because of the drop from $80, etc.

Remember, ASND went from $80 in January 1998 to $22 in eleven months, then turned around and went back to $80+ in another twelve months.
ASND caused a lot of people to lose money too. People that bought at $80 and held had a 2 year ride to break even - or they sold near the low for big losses. How many had the courage to buy at $22 when things looked blackest (unless you knew better from your research)?
People that did buy in then made huge profits.

I'm not about to throw away my hard won knowledge base in ASND, PAIR, MRVC, etc. just because the market can't see past the end of their nose. MRVC is trading just above cash value (amazing) and sitting on cutting edge products aimed at huge new markets. They have 50% equity stakes in 3 startups for a trivial sum compared to what they get back if these products are winners. They are moving to increase their capacity and lower their production costs.
