mohan...re dell "franchise"

i must be honest with all...been in and out of dell since 96, no regrets...would sell half my position after a split....why, because up until last year, it always looked overvalued....i've learned to appreciate the simplicity of their sales model, and now the gigabuys venture is a logical extension....no "country stores", no "vars"..etc..more important, no major overheads such as incurred by the rest of the dot commers....i was a believer in compaq, had fairly large positions...recently sold the majority and switched to dell...admired ep @ cpq, liked the dec deal and the ibm like direction they are heading in...but too many vacillations along the way...yet to see dell waivering in direction...see good things in the coming years...i don't think there is a bad price/entry point for the common....believe we will see 70+ post split by third quarter, perhaps sooner...when techs are in fav...$$$$$'s into dell...an analyst can't logically argue with even 30% growth, when the rivals are nowhere near....good luck, ed a.

p.s. for all the naysayers, bears, whatever you want to call yourself..companies such as dell are better positioned to ride out economic downturns than much lesser currently high flying issues..
