More accurate - In Our Power to Extort Money Out of Tax Payers We Trust"

Wouldn't fit though.

How do you feel about In God We Trust?
I personally don't know which God they want me to trust. Actually it's more like someone saying I trust in my good luck or some other platitude.

This term came onto our money supply through another challenge. The banking interests of the 1880's were insistant on issuing money in the form of paper only if it was backed by a certain weight of gold. This worked okay when there was a large supply of gold from California and a small population. Credit became tight as there just wasn't that much money to go around. Eventually some silver was allowed as backing. To push their case, the congress introduced a bill to have the phrase In Gold we Trust on all paper money. The easier-credit faction got this amended into In God we Trust
