Eric, Asyst's IR told me today that in the Jan. conf. call the co. said that their BTB was <1, unlike Applied and Novellus who were seeing upturns in orders whereas Asyst was not, at least not yet. Asyst sells a lot of stuff to the fabs rather than as OEM, so they may tend to lag the tools themselves. She noted that it may happen both ways: during the downturn in 1997, Asyst lagged the bigger companies in experiencing a downtrend in orders.

There's nothing to say that Asyst will experience an order upturn, but it does seem plausible that it will happen, with a delay of a quarter or so compared to the bigger players.
