(C) revealed holding a 2.3% equity stake in Conseco inc. (CNC) with ownership of 7,304,374 common shares, according to an amended Schedule 13G filed yesterday after market close at the SEC. In Citigroup's last filing on Feb. 12, Citigroup and its Salomon Smith Barney Holdings unit disclosed an 8.4% stake with ownership of 28,361,509 common shares. No details concerning Citigroup's disposition of Conseco shares were disclosed. Of note, Schedule 13Gs are filed by passive investors who have no extraordinary plans for the company, and contain ownership information only. Schedule 13Ds are filed by investors whose intentions may not simply be passive, and contain detailed information on recent transactions as well. Conseco common shares were last trading at $29.75 a share, down $0.69 on the day.
