Why do you change the subject now? Now that you realize that I do understand what a service Pack is, you now talk about volumes?

You want volumes? Look at the SPs that were released for MSFT NT 3x and 4x. How many beta versions of those SPs were there? Is that oranges to oranges. Why werent those original SPs released in multiple beta versions? In fact, it was likely because of those SPs that MSFT needed to build an out.

Did you also think that if an SP on a NetWare or NT server fails that it affects 100s and in the case of Netware - 1000s of users?

Your wheel is spinning Jim but the Hampster died long time ago.

Anyone noticed the significance of this following announcement?

biz.yahoo.com

Well here is what I see.

Look at 2nd quarter earnings report. It says 25million total
licences at 3million new user per quarter run rate.

With microsoft hitting 28million by end of Feb., that means
they already hit 3million for this Q in 2 months are well set
for about 4.5 to 5million for this Q. That will be a sequential
increase of 33%, 2Q to 3Q.

What is happening is that lot of companies, including mine
are upgrading to NT as part of Y2K s/w budget.

I expect the stock to surge $5 by tomorrow close - for the above
reason as well as the Gates/Ballmer press conference tomorrow.
