Roger that, Orion. I think we're saying similar things, but from different perspectives.

We know the copper is there and that it works, 99+% of the time. We also know that the old cable (pre hybrid) is pretty shakey when it comes to being dependable. What we don't know is how the new hybrid (fiber optic/copper combo) cable will stand up, or how our copper phone lines will do when used at a frequency well above their initial design specs. How adaptable twisted pair will be to differences in its electrical characteristics is open for discussion until there is a solid base of experience to see how it works out.

But, I'm mostly on your side -- if I were to bet, I'd bet on our existing copper and the PhoCos to be more dependable than the CableCos.

Hmmm. Come to think of it, I guess I did make that bet -- I'm long PAIR. <G>
