P-III-550 were announced but not to be shipped until May 1999 as described in the announcement. Thus the claim that Announce and ship are same date has at least one counter example.

No, that was a 1000Mhz PIII. The 550Mhz PIIIs are sampling right now and they aren't being referred to as "technology demonstration examples". They are from production material. Do you need a definition of "production material"?
