Hummmmm? Yeah! That's another little quirk I should restate. You are right that it is taxable on the expiration date or closing transaction date. Normally, I don't worry about the taxes since I concentrate so much on the chart action. My DLJ Direct brokerage does an excellent job of summarizing yearly taxable transactions of what is due that I don't pay attention to that as much as I should. I figure if I owe taxes I will just generate some more profits to pay for it! :-) Thanks for bringing that to my attention!
