Bill, based on my read on a few issues I follow, the rally thus-far is so weird. Bid and ask are all over the place. Frantic short-covering? Can't wait to load-up buying? Or both? What gives?

INTERVIEW-Fed's Kelley warns economy may overheat...Asked whether he was concerned about the level of U.S. stock prices, Kelley said: ''Clearly the market is quite high and...it expects the economy to do very, very well into the future. And it may do that, in which case these prices may turn out to be appropriate. But it does put the market at risk, being as high as it is, and I think that's a source of volatility,'' he said.

I saw another discover brokerage ad that I had never seen before (along the lines of the towtruck driver and the island)...a bartender was on the business news for a billion dollar transaction and was being seen by two yuppies in his bar.

Given what you've said about the market and about the economy, where do you think the market ends in 1999?
Well, that's a parlor game, guessing where the market might be on any one particular day.

A friend's parents trade through AG Edwards. The parents report that
their broker "recommended buying before a stock splits." The target
