Hi Cliff, I have the s220 in PCI slot 1, works fine. Have ATI Expert 98 AGP in AGP slot as Primary. Can't remember if you have Abit BH6?

abit.com.tw

Check out what Abit says about the PCI slots. Seems the VGA Video card will work in slots 1, 4, and 5. However the s220 may act differently. MS win98 says use all PCI slots for multi-monitors, but this is not true. Have you checked Setup ( Rom PCI/ISA BIOS) page to see which is ( Init Display First)?

When I click on Device Manager/Display Adapters I get, ATI 3D Rage Pro (ATIr3) and (Diamond Stealth11 s220. If you are showing Yellow ? marks then something isn't correct. I would say you may have to get a different Video card, however the s220 works fine in my rig. I spent a little time trying to add 3rd monitor. Gave up and settled on 2.

Know what you are experiencing. I'm having similar problems installing Scanner USB. Not there yet.

Keep slugging and try other PCI slots.

Regards, /jw

ps; go thru the FAQ pages about Abit. Very interesting.

Cliff --

Diamond Stealth 220s video card

As you did request "help from anyone", I'll attempt to try.

I installed 4 of those this weekend in 3 different boxes. I didn't have the particular difficulty that you're having on the one running Win95 (it ran with no problem at all) the other 2 boxes did cause some problems.
Most of the difficulty was of my own making, in that I grabbed a defective monitor from the floor of a closet and messed with the installation for a good while before trying another monitor. At that point, I had messed with CMOS, video drivers, monitor settings, and had really made myself a problem.
So the Stealth card wasn't the problem, it was my stupidity ..... ggg

I did discover that the newest driver from the Diamond website made the installation on the next machine running Win98 with dual monitors go as easily as the one on the Win95 box.

My recco would be to double check the monitor on another box if that can be easily done. Then download the newest 220s driver from the Diamond website, perhaps on another box and save it to disk and transfer it to your machine where you're having difficulty.
Use the install new hardware wizard to copy the new driver from the disk and hopefully it will work properly.

Good luck
until better help arrives
(and that shouldn't be hard to find ... ggg)

Regards
Nemer
