Regarding Tokyo, your post is fairly accurate.

Joe brings a certain style, an educated and brash arrogance, an easy persona to love or hate. This is his playground for recognition, to build that ego, as is the case with some other regular posters here, although some are genuine in sharing information, and/or like the challenge of putting it on the line.

We all have our motives, whether for profit, recognition, belongingness,...or to warn.

However, I like Joe's style, a celebrity amongst us cyberspace traders...I find his readings entertaining, many times informative, whether through eloquence or condescendence. And it appears as if he has had a tremendous amount of success in a very short period of time, an achievement I envy and admire.

Joe is to us as Howard Cosell was to Monday Night Football. Let's face it, this thread is one of the most popular, if not the most popular thread (although content has severely deteriorated the past few months) on SI and was built primarily on the Mex man's popularity, like him or not. Many tune in to get a tip or wait to ridicule his next move.

By no means, a defense of Joe. And I agree, fade his blatant and obscure hype picks or wait for the dust to settle, but give consideration to those he recommends that are in the mainstream, the CMGI's, AMZN's...Tokyo has a certain style, entertaining yes, but I've also learned a thing or two from the guy.
