The best news from the cc:

David Branson (sp?), vp of equity research at Bear Stearns, has decided to quit BS and join IDT as head of IR.

Jonas sounded like he ate a bunch of acid an hour before speaking. I stopped counting his "ya knows" at 30. He REALLY needs a coach for his public speeches.

I don't think spinning off their ip phone business will bring in much money. IP telephone is just not seen as big today.

Think again, IP telephony is fomenting a lifetime revolution in the communications industry. In the near future, disparate IP networks will conform to industry standards, become interoperable and enable the most intelligent, feature-rich, low cost and all-encompassing network to emerge.

Revenue from IP telephony related software, hardware, products and services is expected to reach 14.7 Billion by 2003. Minutes of communication services traveling over IP telephony networks will grow from 70 million minutes in 1998 to 80 Billion minutes in 2003. Ultimately, traditional service providers will make IP telephony a mainstream technology.

No doubt there will be many players, but IDT is one of the pioneers, and IMO Net2Phone will be huge...

Bill,

You said, "If you calculate the EPS based on annualizing the last quarter's earnings, you will get around 35. This is high for a company like IDT."

This is not at all a good way to evaluate IDTC. The $.06 is an anomaly that won't last. Earnings will be more than double that in a quarter or two. A much more honest way to compare IDT is the way Charlie Yang did with price to sales comparison. Did you click on his links? Very revealing! Even if IDT were to make NOTHING on the spin off, it will dramatically affect the bottom line and change your projected PE of 35 to 17 overnight.

I believe IMHO, that IDTC is depressed right now because of analyst uncertainty. They simply don't know what is going to happen. If there is one thing investors can not tolerate it is uncertainty. Once this spin off thing gets opened up and evaluated, we will see IDTC jump to at least the high teens very quickly, IMHO.
