Intimate says to beat Q1 EPS estimate
COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 7 (Reuters) - Intimate Brands Inc., operator of Victoria's Secret and Bath and Body Works stores, said Wednesday it expects first-quarter earnings to exceed analysts' estimates due to strong sales.

For the five weeks ended April 3, the company said net sales were $331.6 million, up 18 percent from $280.7 million a year earlier.

Intimate Brands said it expects first quarter earnings to be 1 cent above analysts' consensus estimate of 18 cents a share.

Comparable-store sales increased 21 percent for the five weeks ended April 3.

In February the company's Victoria's Secret unit staged a lingerie party on the Internet, attracting 1.5 million viewers. Some of the ''visitors'' experienced computer crashes or fuzzy images due to congestion on the Net.

On Tuesday Intimate's shares closed at 48-1/8, near their year-high of 48-7/8.
