COST OF COMPRESSED AIR LEAKS: This chart shows the cost of electrical power needed to generate compressed air lost through leaks of various sizes.

The chart estimates Annual Dollar Cost of Electricity due to air leaks at three plant air pressures (psig): 80, 90, & 100 for six different diameters of leakage holes ranging from 1/32" to 1/2". It also estimates the Air Loss do to Leakage (scim) and Wasted Compressor Horsepower for the various leak sizes.

MY OPINION: This might be enough to give a plant manager and maintenance supervisor nightmares....I know one who lives down the street (he used to be the plant controller before being promoted to plant manager) of a local light bulb manufacturing facility where, I know , they use a lot of compressed air. I think I'll run it by him this weekend...maybe make MRPS a sale!
