FYI,

The Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Semiconductor and Systems Conference will begin Monday, when Mark Edelstone expects most of the semiconductor companies attending to provide upbeat presentations and positive commentaries about intermediate-term demand trends. Though near-term visibility remains limited, Mark believes that most companies will suggest that pricing pressure has been reduced. He expects most management teams to provide evidence that their fundamentals have continued to be positively affected by a cyclical expansion phase that began in 3Q98. Mark believes that the vast majority of semiconductor companies are on track to meet or exceed consensus estimates for 1Q99.
