Cap - thanks for the reprint. For me, it takes a different slant when I see that they are giving away several core designs (i.e., 32-bit Sparc & 64-bit UltraSparc). It appears to be an overall strategy (duh), rather than one focused on their JAVA Processor. I don't view it as a frontal assault on PTSC, but will of course have a longterm impact especially if "academic researchers" use it in classes, etc. Its a shame the Fish's post didn't mention the other processor cores are also involved (it may be in the url he mentioned but why increase the hit counts on his site).
