Isn't EVERYTHING open to extremism? I have several cousins who are fundamental Christians. I consider them to have pushed it to the extreme. If people disagree with their views, they are lectured on the need for God CONSTANTLY. We are told that we will go to Hell. We are told that our lives are wasted.
It seems to me extremism is a fault of ANY system. Simply pointing to vices and claiming that some extremist behavior means that these vices should be abolished is extreme in itself.
I know a guy who is a baseball fanatic. He attends hundreds of games a year. He's lost jobs because of his avocation (I suggested he use this to his advantage and find a job in baseball - but then he still couldn't attend games). He lost his wife (no kids) due to this.
Under your definition of outlawing things because extremist behavior can be promoted, then baseball is a dangerous sport for society.....
