I am only a shade less pessimistic about future economic conditions than you are, but by being totally debt free, and with some gold, cash, oil royalty trusts, and foreign currencies as well as a defined-benefit pension plan I hope to continue to enjoy life as long as possible no matter what happens. With that base I can speculate some on the downside of the current insanity. There are some enjoyable things about the current unreality. With a car that gets better than 40 mpg one can cross the entire country any time at a transportation cost of two cents a mile. Great for kids who like to camp--or anyone.
