PEAR Technologies' Subsidiary Signs Exclusive Distribution Agreement With Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation
TORONTO, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 1999--PEAR Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB:PEAR - news) announced that its new ZOS Petrochemicals Industries Corp. subsidiary, has signed an exclusive Canadian distribution agreement and a contract to act as exclusive agent in the United States with Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation (FCFC) of Taipei, Taiwan.

FCFC is a division of Formosa Plastics Group, a multi-billion dollar international company, that is the number one manufacturer and supplier of PVC plastics in the world, with its own crude oil refinery and Naphtha Cracking plant.

FCFC has licensed ZOS Petrochemicals Industries Corp. (http://www.zospetrochemicals.com) to supply North American markets with ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) resins for use in multiple industries and thousands of product applications. ZOS Petrochemical's expected revenues from ABS sales in Canada alone, is expected to exceed $13 million. This does not include revenues expected from sales in the United States. The Company is in final contract negotiations with two of the largest plastics manufacturing companies in Canada, and the largest manufacturer of auto parts in Canada. ZOS Petrochemicals is also continuing discussions with FCFC to expand its distribution product base by including Formosa Plastic Group's PVC and polystyrene resins and other plastics.

Licensing agreements are also in place for ZOS Petrochemicals to distribute plastics and resin products in Europe and South America.

PEAR Technologies, Inc. offers the newest generation of advanced polymer resins that are superior replacements for traditional, and more costly materials like steel, aluminum and plastics. PEAR holds the exclusive worldwide rights to PolyEther Amide Resin, which was originally developed by Ashland Chemical for use in strategic defense applications. PEAR has taken this technology and created a low-cost, versatile, and superior alternative to traditional fabricating materials.

PEAR, and it's ZOS Petrochemicals subsidiary are also developing potential applications for their resins for the construction, electronic, electrical and automotive industries, which will be of interest to companies like DaimlerChrysler (NYSE:DCX - news), Allied Signal (NYSE:ALD - news), General Motors (NYSE:GM - news) and Ford (NYSE:F - news).
