Michael: If this news has got us brainstorming, imagine what it must be like in Houston this morning. Do you think they would have had an inkling of this? It certainly gives them a focus for that Innovate Conference in mid-April that rudedog mentioned yesterday.

Dear Michael: I think this announcement is DELLS admission that they have a pathetic R&D department. Dell has done well as they were able to take advantage of the price wars with their supplier and obtain excellent equipment for cheap price and marketed quite well the finished product. Well the suppliers prices are going up and finished PC's price going down. They are in a squeeze. I think they will make a run on the storage business thinking it will bring in high margin business to offsett the decline. However, they will likely be directly competing with EMC in that field and I think EMC will be a very formidable competitor. Software is equally as important as hardware in the storage business at the EMC level and EMC has developed their own. JDN
