Maybe analysts are smarter than we think.

They work on the premise that investors are not too smart and will jump when they say jump. The sad fact is that they are mostly right.
They issue a "strong buy" and all the lemmings jump on the stock and it goes up, making it a self-fulfilling prophecy.
