Chuz,
I'm curious about your merger comment. Do you think this deal has implications for closer Dell/IBM collaboration or a merger down the road. If so, that makes me nervous. Even under the direction of Gertzner (sp?) I'm not impressed with IBM's business model, etc. I think they still have much of the calcified deposits left over from the "good ole days" of Big Blue. I'd hate to see them poison Dell in any way.

While the DELL-IBM deal is a win-win for both companies and does represent a tacit abdication of the PC market for IBM, it just as surely represents an acknowledgement by Michael Dell that the PC market is becoming increasingly commoditized, and that for future growth to occur, DELL must move into the higher end business of both storage and servers. Clearly, DELL has taken this step with its alliance with IBM.
