Once again I am an owner of some cube. I have made money on it every time, with this being time number 5. I got back in at 19 7/8 and almost had to sell for loss limit. It is looking stronger today so I will hold. It is undervalued once again. Just my opinion.

Just a quick comparison I thought might be enlightening for those longs that have held on through a long cold winter with CUBE and are wondering if spring will ever come.

This comparison is between CUBE and ATML, two totally different companies, but, nonetheless, provides interesting perspective on our friend Mr. Cube.

Atmel:

Fully Diluted Shares: 100.27 mil.
Q4 Rev: $288.68 MM = $2.88/shr.
1998 Rev: $1,110.9 MM = $11.08/shr.
Q4 NOI: $4.18 MM = $.09/shr
1998 NOI: $4.01 MM = $.04/shr

C-Cube:

Fully Diluted Shares: 40.7 mil.
Q4 Rev: $95.8 MM = $2.35/shr.
1998 Rev: $351.6 MM = $8.64/shr.
Q4 NOI: $12.4 MM = $.31/shr
1998 NOI: $48.4 MM = $1.19/shr

Cube @ $18.00

PSR (1998) 2.08 x
PE (1998) 15.12 x

Atmel @ $17.00

PSR (1998) 1.53 x
PE (1998) 425 x

Obviously Atmel's PE ratio is not very meaningful based on last year's numbers, but what will they earn this year and next? Cube earned $1.19/shr last year and at last quarters run rate (.31 x 4) they should earn something close to $1.25 this year without any escalation in revs. or operating efficiencies factored in.

Personally, I think CUBE is depressed due to the cloud hanging over China. I believe that they currently derive approx. 30% of their income from sales to VCD venders in China (please correct me if I'm wrong).

With only 40 MM shares outstanding, some day CUBE will rise from the ashes. Until then, we hunker down and wait for spring.
