I have never been a fan of Applix marketing, or any names they use: ELF is just another in a series of confusions. "SHELF" is not going to be much of a hook either. When the "tech" guys run the marketing, this is what happens. You can overcome un-useful names and an inferior product (e.g. "Excel"..eventually over Lotus1-2-3,QuattroPro <also lousy) if you have a steamroller in place like an OS.
I thought about the minimal Applix show presence (compared to others) and I had to remind myself, Applixware is their -3rd- place product. Given that few, few companies can hold up two, three products and make them all successful, it is hard to see Applix generating good, sound marketing on all three fronts. Like I suggested before, Applixware to RedHat or ..HP?? and if they want to really be a CIS software company, use a name Wall Street likes ("Remedy", not "Anywhere") for the company, and move on..
Hey, Borland..big company ten years ago, top-traded company..now a small nub in a niche market. Companies are like trees..they get so big, then a new wind blows them over..sometime.
There is no minimal height!

At least he was honest. If you had said you had interest
in SPARC Solaris they may have shown you some Linux apps
running on Solaris.
