I do think the major enablers for democracy are a good economy and a feeling of security. That makes people willing to kick out dictators. The chicken or the egg. I see it as when people kick out dictators, they become more prosperous and secure. In fact let me state it as rule: The more "organized" a society becomes, the more destructive and impoverished it becomes. The more "chaotic", the more prosperous and content.
