This link provides a good discussion of the IBM/DELL agreement and possible implications.

Enterprise storage, versus NT storage, versus.......I'm not technologically knowledgeable enough to sort out the implications of EMC applications versus NTAP, IBM, etc. which is why I was asking.

The IBM/Dell deal may be good for NTAP, but that is not clear. I believe it gives Dell a good source, probably at good cost, for building its boxes. NTAP is another source, similarly, but for NAS (network attached storage) software and hardware pieces. IBM does not offer such a product.
