"Avici and Netcore will deliver too. It's the others that have little chance"

It is possible someone will joint CSCO and Juniper and serve as third
party. But it has not happened yet. I have observed the approach of
those Teribit router start up companies and LU is that they made a
big deal about how fast their system hardware will work, and didn't
address the big issue of software especially BGP inter domain
connections, which is compatibility issue resides. I am not sure if
the people designs the router without think this issue, those can
be actually successful.

Last time I heard is LU's Packstar system is sitting in UUnet Lab and
power get switched off. Engineers decided not to spend time on it any
more.

The reason I speculate that those start ups get sold out is based on
the time is running out on them. They need to show the results to the
their investors in a relative short period time, otherwise, the
market window is closed on them.

Cheers!
Mike
