I don't think that Philips will in fact mount a hostile takeover bid for 17. The only way that would work is if the stock is selling for less than 17... (unless somebody is using new math I don't know about). What do you want to bet the price they actually offer has a "2 in it"?

This only shows that every body (market) thinks VLSI will go for much more.
