I didn't quite get killed, but was on life-support with over $100k in losses. I am also still
short today but learning to trade off a boxed position. Boy was that an expensive lesson!!

Cap,

I lost too much to even go into and when I boxed, I could not guess it correctly. I use guess loosely here.

Loose Change

Networking speculation. Expect more deals, given the
buyout of Xylan and now Level One. Two potential
targets: Newbridge Networks and Fore Systems.... Bank
stocks were big winners. Chase was up $2 11/16, to $83
3/8, while Citigroup gained 2 7/16, to $60 5/16.... I
was talking to Mike Kwatinetz of CS First Boston, one
of the biggest Dell bulls on the Street. Says he still
believes in Dell for the long term, although he admits
the recent slowdown in revenue growth was "faster than
I anticipated." He thinks earnings growth should
stabilize at about 40%, which should be enough to
satisfy the Street.... Microsoft announced a new
initiative to supply software for e-commerce. If they
can succeed, this could be a huge area of growth....
After the close, CompUSA announced third and fourth
quarter results will be weaker than expected. Look for
some major pain in their shares Friday.
