About BYND's survival...

I think Beyond.com will able to survive despite competition
from other computer etailers. Dell's Gigabuys is another big
player in the market but keep in mind that Beyond.com ONLY
specializes in software - this is an advantage for them b/c
they can concentrate on purely software and not worry about
selling low-margin PCs. Beyond.com's acquisition of BuyDirect.com
is pretty huge. They are just starting to partner with computer
manufacturers for post-sales software sales - just like at the
Compaq partnership. Look for Beyond.com to announce future partnerships with computer hardware etailers who need a software
shop to complement their offerings. DELL had the resources to open
their own store in-house w/ Gigabuys but not many companies can
do this.

With the growing emergence of high speed access such as DSL and
cable modems, downloading of software will become the norm -
BYND fits right into this future.

What does everyone else think? Agree or disagree?

Long on Beyond.
