<<IBM will have access to Dell's build-to-order process
It's still not giving away secrets. Much of the build to order process could be determined by ordering a system and tracking it's progress. Implementing the process is the key, just ask the Compaq folks.

TigerPaw: You hit on a key point. Its the softer side of the DELL business model that is so TOUGH to duplicate. How many large tech firms have DELL's ability to attract, motivate, and RETAIN top talent. DELL also has created a high performance culture that is the envy of the industry. This is an ideal environment for DELL's BTO model and their virtual integration efforts. Other competitors (including IBM and CPQ) will continue to have a difficult time developing a culture and environment like DELLs. I am not worried at all.

DELL is a MASTER at partnering with suppliers and customers.

Think LONG TERM....I KNOW Michael Dell and his team are. I have MANY new reasons to continue to bet on them.

Regards,

Scott
