Northern Abitibi and Beaufield receive Siscoe drilling results Northern Abitibi Mining Corp NAI Shares issued 27,755,028 Mar 29 close $0.125 Tue 30 Mar 99 News Release Also Beaufield Consolidated Resources Inc (BFD) Mr. Glen Harper and Mr. Jens Hansen report Beaufield Consolidated and Northern Abitibi have received drill results from their Siscoe gold property at Val d'Or, Que. The property consists of 20 claims plus three additional claims recently purchased, totalling 429 hectares. The program is financed and operated by Beaufield, which is earning a 50 per cent interest in the Siscoe property from Northern Abitibi. Four holes were planned, but due to the thickness of old tailings deposited in the lake from earlier mine operations, only two holes, 99-1 and 99-4, were completed through the ice of Siscoe Lake. The principal mineralizing structure of the region is in the K-zone shear, which controls gold mineralization at the Sullivan, Siscoe and Wesdome deposits. The K-zone shear crosses the Northern Abitibi-Beaufield property for at least 750 metres. Hole 99-1 was drilled to test a magnetic anomaly south of the K-zone. It encountered magnetic komatiites followed by basalt and did not intersect significant gold values. Hole 99-4 was drilled to intersect the junction of the K-zone shear and an intersecting structure 1,300 metres southeast of the Siscoe mine. The hole was drilled at an angle of -50 degrees, and passed through 94.8 metres (310 feet) of water, overburden and old mine tailings. It intersected highly sheared talc chlorite schist to 242.92 metres, followed by basalt to a total depth of 299.31 metres. Several quartz veins with sulphide mineralization and anomalous gold values were encountered. The section from 129.43 metres to 130.50 metres had poor core recovery. This section contains fractured quartz vein material with sulphide mineralization. All of the drill core that was recovered from the 1.07 metre interval was fire assayed several times by Bourlamaque Assay Laboratories Ltd., with a substantial variance in analytical results which ranged from a low of 4.54 grams per tonne gold to a high of 83.45 grams per tonne gold. The average from two screened samples was 28.40 g/t gold (0.828 of an ounce per ton). Management believes that the results of this drilling indicate that high-grade gold values are present on the Siscoe property. The available geophysical and geological data on the Siscoe property and on adjoining properties will be interpreted to maximize the effectiveness of future drilling. Drilling techniques will be modified to cope with the thick overburden and mine tailings and to ensure better core recovery within the shear zone. It is anticipated that further drilling will occur next winter, although drilling could be advanced if drilling on the Lake from a barge is found to be cost-effective.
