I remember buying TLC at $19 and watching it sliding to $5. Then I sold at $15 only to see it over $30 in few months.
CPU is in huge trouble. They really have to get rid of the old management, develop web sales, get their act together.
CPU can trade as low as $5 but not for too long. If you have at least one year horizon you should be buying around $5 for 200%-500% appreciation over next year or two. But of course I would not invest more than 5% of the portfolio. It is not a good trading stock imo.

Good luck to all including shorts.

On a buy-out, the buyer would be covetous of the brand
name. CompUSA is a household name brand that, if parlayed
effectively, could be used in internet or other means.
The number of computer hawking web sites is enormous.
A trusted reputation is worth its weight in gold.
The brick and mortar aspect would be the operation that
a buyer would like to sell, alter, or close down.
I could really see someone buy the company, use the brand
name on the web and close all but the really profitable
stores the first year. Then slowly close the remaining
stores over the years to come until the transition of
brand identity to the web is complete. Needs a strong
management team, but would be viable.

I do not think that is a possibility. People talked about bankruptcy about BBY in late 1996 and early 1997. I think the damage to this stock has already been done, selling at the current price is basically selling at the bottom. I plan to hold it for at least a year, and hope for a deal or turnaround. A deal or buyout is a definitely possibility. Who would have thought that level one get bought at a 100% premium? Level 1 went down big today. Whoever sold Level one today are very sorry right now. The same thing may happen to CPU. If it get bought at 1 price of $15-20 per share within a year, then we will have a return of 100-150%. Whenever a stock got so oversold and depressed, some buyer will get interested.
